Discovering the work of Bhupen Khakhar ( 1934 - 2003), one of India's leading contemporary artists, I am reminded of Italian artist, Francesco Clemente's style of painting. A generous and courageous man, he became celebrated for his exploration of his sexual identity--

Artist / potter and Canadian-native, Patricia Larsen, known for her minimalist, zen-like paintings and her strong, independent sense of design, has created a home in Pescadero, on the remote tip of Baja, California in Mexico. Part sanctuary, part workspace, the cement block and plaster house partly designed by friend and architect, Julio Cesar Gomez, was built as a place to paint and be inspired.

I am a huge fan of Italian painter / sculptor, Sandro Chia, a native of Florence and founder of the Italian Transavantguardia movement of the 1970's and 1980's.His work brought about the return to painting beautiful pictures--with dynamic movement and vivid colors--thank you Sandro! Mr. Chia also produces excellent Tuscan wines at his estate in Montalcino, Castello Romitorio, near Siena and the Val d'Orcia, one of the most beautiful places on the planet.
