I Dream of Tuscany--La Dolce Vita

Last year at about this time we were in Tuscany. The pictures were taken at my cousin's fourteenth century villa, Cigliano. It's hard to imagine that the house was built around the time of Columbus, and her family has owned it since then. My great aunt married an Italian from Florence. So that is how I have the good fortune to have Italian relatives.

My Friend, Alice Anne, Renown Psychic and Author

This is a portrait I did of my friend (with the word psychic misspelled), Alice Anne, a writer and psychic--a very well educated psychic, mind you, with an impressive, international clientele. I don't know any others, but I would bet that most do not have advanced degrees from Columbia and Berkeley. Sometimes there are advantages to having a psychic friend--like when I'm worried about something and she assures me that everything will be fine. But there are also some disadvantages--like when I'd like to keep some secrets to myself. She's provocative and funny. Best loved thing she says , "Life is a messy business."

Mayumi Oda's Screen Prints

I love Mayumi Oda's screen prints. They're so playful , personal, and uplifting. She is an artist, activist, and organic gardener. I first saw her work years ago at a show she had at the East West Center on the campus of the University of Hawaii. Her art has been a great inspiration to me.
