Swiss Expressionist painter, Paul Klee (1879 - 1940) was also a poet philosopher with mytsical inclinations. "A drawing is simply a line going for a walk," he said. His interest in color, dreams, myth, and primitive symbols are reflected in his paintings. Illness and death are themes in his later work as he suffered from an undiagnosed illness now known to be scleroderma.
