Born today--Henry Moore (1898 - 1986), iconic British sculptor / painter known for his bronze semi-abstract monumental sculptures. Less known, he was regarded by some (from the Feb. 18, 2010 Telegraph article) to be a "contentious, avant-garde figure, preoccupied with sex and death,,,and virtually a Communist." Hmmn. In his own words, "The secret to lifeis to have a task, something you devote your entire life to, something you bring everything to, every minute of the day for the rest of your life.
