Sally Michel, the wife of iconic Modernist painter, Milton Avery, was also a gifted painter. You can certainly see the similarity in their styles. Sally never achieved the success of her husband. But she supported the family by selling her illustrations during the lean years. Milton's works fetched very high prices after his death, and Sally became a wealthy woman.
