Ukrainian-born Russian painter, Kazimir Malevich (1879 - 1935) pioneer of Abstract art and originator of the Avant-Garde Suprematist movement--suppressed and imprisoned in the 1930's--he is best known for his "Black Square" painting. For an informative look at this innovative artist, check out Cathy Locke Art Blog--and I've included her video--thankyou!
