Inspiration: Alebrijes of Oaxaca








I have always loved these brightly-colored animal figures from Oaxaca. Carved usually from copal wood, the often fantastic creatures are a folk tradition from the region of Oaxaca--and the pieces carved by the Mendoza family are especially famous.
