John Bellany was born in Scotland to a family of 'hellfire and brimstone" Calvinist fisherman. His expressive work is populated by boats , fish, and seafaring as well as themes of good and evil. He survived a life of alcoholism, and received a liver transplant in the 1980's--his own resurrection. To see more of his work, go to Beaux Art London, London.
