David Hockney--Watercolors

David Hockney's watercolors of the East Yorkshire landscapes from his show Hand Eye Heart in 2005 at L.A. Louver. Oh how I love these!

  1. My comment comes months too late, but I just found your post. Hockney never fails to look at the things around him with a fresh eye and I agree with you. I love them too. These paintings are deceivingly simple and each one contains the essence of the place, the time, and the weather conditions in an exquisitely observed and controlled shorthand. Thanks for posting these!

  2. Hello Harrison,

Nice to hear from you. Yes, I think Hockney is one of the greatest of our time. I agree with you--it's no small feat to make a painting appear simple.
By the way--I am a BIG fan of your work as well...
    Aloha,
    Barbara
