American Abstract Expressionist painter, Joan Mitchell (1926 - 1992), made her home in a small, riverside town northwest of Paris, the same town where Monet lived. Famous for her sunny, light and air-filled abstractions, she also became famous for her cantankerous nature. Somehow the two don't seem to go together--
