Inspiration: Dorothy Brett

Great Friends--Hip Chicks: Dorothy Brett, Mabel Dodge Luhan, and Frieda Lawrence

Born in England into an aristocratic family, Dorothy Brett (1883 - 1977), gave up the life of privilege to become a bohemian painter and member of the Bloomsbury set. Moving to Taos, New Mexico in 1924, she, Frieda Lawrence and Mabel Dodge were great friends and a dynamic trio. To see more of her work, go to the Owings-Dewey Galley in Santa Fe.
