Inspiration: American Modernist Painter, Lois Dodd

I love Lois Dodd's spare New England landscapes, seascapes, and paintings of everyday life. Born in New Jersey in 1927 and educated at Cooper Union, she lives between New York and the Maine countryside. To me her paintings capture the essence of American rural aesthetic--and an ethics of simplicity. To see more of her work, visit the Alexandre Gallery in New York.
