I recently discovered the intricate woodblock prints of Jozsef Domjan via  the lovely blog by Laura Ottina The Animalarium. Born in Budapest in 1907, Jozsef Domjan (1907 - 1992), one of the most important woodblock artists of the 20th century, found inspiration in the folklore of his native Hungary. His prints, known for their vibrant colors, dimension, and intricate design were made with his technique using overprinting of multiple layers of oil color and up to eight different wood blocks.
