Sigrid Hjerten
Like her husband, Swedish painter, Isaac Grunewald (1889 - 1946), Swedish Modernist painter, Sigrid Hjerten (1885 - 1948) studied for a time with Matisse at his school in Paris--and you can see the influence. Unlike her husband, Sigrid had a difficult time being accepted by the critics. Sadly, later in her life she suffered from schizophrenia and was given a lobotomy.
