Works by Swedish painter and wife of fellow artist, Isaac Grunewald, Sigrid Hjerten (1885 -1948), an important figure in Swedish modern art. She was trained in textile design but went to Paris to study with Henri Matisse where she learned to use color. Tragically, she suffered from mental illness and eventually died of complications from a lobotomy.
